Photobooth at the Shamrock Showdown!

We had a great time at Nikoli's Pizza's third annual Shamrock Showdown!  The weather cooperated for the race and photobooth and there were some great Irish (at least for the day!) participants.

Gulliver's Run

I was happy to be approached by John Heycock at the Furry Friends Race for Their Lives 2013 event about his first annual Gulliver's Run event. Gulliver's Run was established to battle canine cancer by raising funds that are contributed to the National Canine Cancer Foundation for research.

"Gulliver's Run" was named in honor of Gulliver Rue Heycock a Hungarian Vizsla who joined the Heycock Family 8 weeks after his birth in 2003. Gulliver ran daily with John and later Duncan, another vizsla, b. 2004, and they became Team Vizsla. Gulliver was an experienced racer but always just wanted to be with his family, no matter what the activity. Gulliver was diagnosed with canine lymphoma in October 2011, shortly after his 8th birthday. Gulliver was treated for his lymphoma at U of Penn, Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital for 13 months. He participated in 2 clinical trials and continued to run for his entire treatment period. Gulliver tolerated all of his medication and chemo without any discomfort and kept up an active and energetic lifestyle up until 2 days before he crossed the last finish line. Gulliver ran a 5k a week before he passed away. He was a tireless runner, but more importantly, he showed us to never give up! "Gulliver's Run" is a tribute to a remarkable friend, a means to raise funds to help continue the fight against canine cancer, and is meant to be a means to celebrate the special bond that exists between dogs and their human companions. "Gulliver's Run" is a 5k trail run that is held annually in early November at Gifford Pinchot Park in Pennsylvania. It focuses on canine/human teams but is open to runners and walkers who may participate with or without a canine friend. All proceeds go to the National Canine Cancer Foundation to be distributed to groups and organizations with a proven record of direct involvement in research and treatment of canine cancer. "Gulliver's Run" is recognized by the IRS as a 501(C)3, non-profit, public charity.

Debbie manned the photobooth while I took race and candid photos.  Please visit the Gulliver's Run Facebook page to view the photos.  Don't forget to give their new page a Like!  If you'd like to purchase high-resolution prints of any of the photos, please head over to my SmugMug page.  All proceeds will be donated to Gulliver's Run.

Head to Facebook or Flickr for updated photos

My poor page is horribly and embarrassingly outdated.  I just haven't had time to update it.  However, my Facebook and Flickr pages are constantly updated with new photos.  Please head on over to check them out!  One day I'll figure out what to do about updates to this page...

Photos from the West Chester Gracenotes 2012 Concert

West Chester Gracenotes, Winter 2012 Concert
Please check out West Chester University's Gracenotes, an all-female a cappella singing group:  http://www.facebook.com/WCUGracenotes.

My daughter is a member of the group, and I was honored to be asked to take "official" photos of the performance for posting on their site.  They are a terrific group of very talented and community-oriented young ladies.  They perform at many church and community events, and donations help them to continue their outreach.

As a fundraiser, I published photos of their performance on my shopping site at http://naterpix.smugmug.com/Music/West-Chester-Gracenotes/Gracenotes-2012-Winter/27021225_m2VRXV.  All profits from sales of these photos will be donated to Gracenotes.  Please take a look.  They would make excellent Christmas gifts!

Turkey Trot photos are up!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the photo area at the Turkey Trot yesterday!  Thanks especially to Mari Lynn who provided the props and whiteboards which added to the fun!

I posted two sets of photos from the Turkey Trot.

Family Photos

The first are the Family Photos posed with the banner beside the registration pavilion.  They turned out really great!  Unfortunately, the sun and camera flash washed out the writing on a few of the whiteboards.  I'm sorry about that.  Lesson learned:  next year we'll use blackboards!

Race Photos

The second set of photos is of the Turkey Trot race itself.  There are a few photos from the start of the race, and then finish line photos up through about the 39:00 minute mark.

Please be sure to visit HD Photography's website, the official photographer for general Turkey Trot race photos.

I just added some photos to my portfolio section.  Portraits are first, followed by landscape and nature photos.  I still have many 'Con (costume) photos to post.  Look for them in the next few days.

Please take a look!
